Colouring book ideas

A quiet way to spend time with them

Grief does not always want words. Colouring a page of someone's face is a slow, undemanding way to be with them for an hour, and the book stays afterwards.

Choosing photographs of them

1

Everyday photos, not formal ones

The kitchen, the garden, the chair they always sat in. Ordinary images carry a person more completely than portraits do.

2

Include other people

Pages showing them with the family are often the ones that matter most later, particularly to children.

3

Consider a copy for each person

The digital edition means the same book can go to several family members without ordering several times.

A photo on the left page and the same moment as a colouring page on the right.

Every spread pairs the original photo with its colouring page, so the memory and the drawing sit side by side.

How it works

  1. Pick your photos. Six to eighteen, straight from your phone.
  2. Choose a cover and title. The cover stays in full colour.
  3. Pick the detail level. Simple and bold for little hands, or intricate for older colourists.
  4. We print and post it. Or email you a print-ready PDF, if you would rather print it yourself.

Digital from $9. Printed, saddle stitched and posted across Australia from $39. See full pricing

Questions

The photos I have are old or poor quality. Is that a problem?

Often not. Clear images give the best result, but we can usually work with old prints and early digital photos. You see a preview before you pay.

Is this appropriate for children?

Many families find it helps. Choose a simpler line-art level for younger children so the pages are easy to complete.

How do you treat photographs of someone who has died?

With care. They are used to make the book and then deleted, never sold, shared, or retained.

There is no rush with this one

Six photographs is enough, whenever the time is right. A preview comes first.
