Choosing photos for the birthday book

1

Use last year's party

Photos from the previous birthday make the best pages, because the child remembers the day and can name everyone in it. It also means you are not scrambling for photos the week before.

2

Get the friends in

A page with their best friend on it gets coloured first, every time. Ask the other parents for a photo if you do not have a good one.

3

Put them on the cover

The cover stays in full colour. Choosing a photo of just the birthday child makes it unambiguous whose book it is.

A photo on the left page and the same moment as a colouring page on the right.

Every spread pairs the original photo with its colouring page, so the memory and the drawing sit side by side.

How it works

  1. Pick your photos. Six to eighteen, straight from your phone.
  2. Choose a cover and title. The cover stays in full colour.
  3. Pick the detail level. Simple and bold for little hands, or intricate for older colourists.
  4. We print and post it. Or email you a print-ready PDF, if you would rather print it yourself.

Questions

How many photos should I use?

Around fifteen is the sweet spot for a full book. The minimum is six.

Can it be a party activity?

It works well. Order the digital edition, print a copy for each guest, and put pencils on the table.

Are photos of my child kept anywhere?

No. They are deleted the moment the book ships, and they are never sold or shared with anyone.

Put them on the cover of their own book

Six photos, about five minutes, preview included.
